„On March 19, together with [deputy chairman of the Junona Assocoation] Mihai Porutiu we are in Berlin to officially release the ‘Berlin 2025’ project in Germany. On the evening of March 19, at the Embassy of Romania in Germany, there will be a concert by a quartet of the Targu Mures Philharmonic Orchestra, with Levente Gyorgy as soloist, and a press conference together with ambassador Adriana Stanescu. The official release of the project in Germany is something absolutely special. It is a continuation of the Vienna project and is designed not only as a simple cultural project, but also has a very important academic and diplomatic component,” Chairman of the Junona Community Development Association Ovidiu Maior said on Wednesday at a news conference held at the State Philharmonic of Targu Mures.
Maior said that the philharmonic orchestra conducted by Pablo Boggiano is invited to perform, on November 6, this year, at the Berlin Philharmonie – Main Auditorium, during an event organised by the Romanian Embassy in Germany to mark 145 years of diplomatic ties between Romania and Germany. In addition to the cultural, academic and diplomatic component, an entrepreneurial component will also be included.
„We currently have the confirmation of the partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Berlin, the concert of the symphony orchestra of the State Philharmonic of Târgu Mures will be included in the series of events dedicated to the celebration of 145 years of Romanian-German diplomatic ties. You know well that in 1880, Germany, together with France and Great Britain, recognised Romania’s independence. So, it will be included in these events that have already begun to be honoured by the Romanian government,” Deputy Chairman of the Junona Association Porutiu told the same news conference.
Part of the concert scheduled for November 6, Porutiu added, will be another special moment in Berlin, in which excellence in medicine and science will be celebrated.
„Leaving aside the fact that it is the 80th anniversary of the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology (UMFST) of Targu Mures, the first class of doctors of the UMFST extension in Hamburg will also graduate, and practically we will celebrate in Berlin this event together with UMFST, the Romanian Embassy, the Romanian Cultural Institute, their partners in Germany, (…). It is the piece de resistance of the entire event in Berlin, where the Berlin Philharmonie hall is already booked, everything is ready and the philharmonic will perform. It is a hall of 2,200 seats and is the most important hall in Berlin and Germany. It may not have the history of the Vienna Musikverein, where the New Year’s Eve concert takes place, but culturally it is considered to be the most important concert hall in Germany. And Berlin, despite the fact that it is not perceived by many of us as such an important cultural centre, you should know that, in fact, in the European perception, Berlin is next to Paris, London, Vienna, one of the epicentres of symphonic music and European culture,” added Porutiu.
„Berlin 2025” is a continuation of the project carried out in 2024 by the Junona Community Development Association with support from thr Romanian Embassy in Austria and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna, in which the symphony orchestra of the Targu Mures State Philharmonic was included in the official schedule of the Musikverein in Vienna.
The event held last year in Vienna, backed by the Mures County Council, the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology and by numerous Romanian and Austrian partners, was considered one of the largest cultural diplomacy projects in the country.
The Musikverein concert performed by the symphony orchestra of the Târgu Mures State Philharmonic, conducted by Pablo Boggano, will be screened at Cinema City in Targu Mures, on March 13, at 12:00hrs.
